Creating teleinformatics services for teaching and research
Back in 1987, before today’s Internet technologies even existed, the Swiss Confederation and the cantons that have universities teamed up to form the SWITCH foundation. Their aim was to foster the creation of teleinformatics services for teaching and research.
Swiss platform for technology and services
30 years later, SWITCH has not only established itself as a neutral platform for technology and services, it has also amassed expertise in a wide range of ICT domains. Security, identity, networks, Internet, software procurement, cloud services, e-learning and video management are among the core elements of its current service portfolio. While this portfolio has grown steadily over the years, one thing that has remained constant is the fact that we plan and develop the IT of the future together with the universities and our community as a whole.
